Our Review

We received the Wahl Figura 8868 and first thing we noticed when unboxing is the ergonomic design. It weighs in at 9.4 Ounces or 266 Grams, your average iPhone weights 150 grams for comparison. It feels solid in your hand and well balanced, its one of those clippers that can take a good beating and keep working for a very long time. The outer shell is a thick silver-coated plastic, and while it feels nice it may get slick from sweating if you were to use them for long periods of time.

This is your standard 5 in 1 blade, which is very common for cordless clippers, and is ideal for face, feet, sanitary cuts, and trims. These cut right through lighter hair like butter, and do beautiful work on trims and touch ups. However, it does hold up quiet well going through thicker body and leg hair, which makes these a great option for those just grooming their own dogs at home and only want a single set of clippers. After extensive use we found the blades remained cool so it won’t irritate your dog, and the handle itself remains cool as well so they remain comfortable to hang on to.

The 5 in 1 blade dial allows you to switch between 5 different cutting lengths (#9, #10, #15, #30 & #40) and comes with 4 guide combs to obtain longer lengths. The plastic guide combs easily slide into place instead of clip on, which is actually a great little feature as it keeps them from getting bumped off and makes it easy to switch combs.

In comparison these clippers are slightly louder than the Wahl Bravura, but only very slightly. Vibration is very low as well, these are great clippers if your dogs are sensitive to noise or vibration and follows suit to the Wahl brand.

Battery performance is the make-or-break of every clipper, so how does the Figura hold up? Wahl claims a battery time is about 90 minutes of use after a complete charge. We found this to be fairly accurate, and as long as you remember to plug it back in after each use you won’t run into any dead battery problems. Also, there is a quick charge feature, where you get 5 minutes of use for 10 minutes of charging. Battery power here is top notch!

Power button is located on the side and out of the way, which is great because in previous Wahl clippers it was inconveniently located on the front and would get bumped sometimes.

For the DIY Groomer

This is a good candidate for an all in one clippers for your dogs at home, it works amazingly well for tighter areas such as face, paws, tail, and under the legs. But it has enough power to get through thicker hair and enough battery power that you won’t be searching for charger half way through. In comparison to most clippers these are extremely quiet and low vibration, so your pet can feel comfortable during its cut.

For the Professional Groomer

Like stated above, these absolutely breeze through touch ups, the ergonomic design makes it easy to handle and you can feel comfortable speeding through touch ups with confidence. The battery life is absolutely top notch and as long as you’re occasionally throwing it back on the stand-up charger between appointments you won’t ever run into problems. For body and leg hair you’ll still want a corded clipper simply for the ability to customize your blade length beyond the 5-in-1 presets, but otherwise these are an elite grade of cordless clipper.
